National Optimist was founded on the idea that good news does sell. Throughout the day we are bombarded with images and sounds that depict the world as a very negative place. We'd like to think that there is more to the news than that.

How does it work? The idea behind National Optimist is a relatively new one. We are part of a new craze sweeping the news and information industry. Our system runs on an idea called "Democratic Editorial Control." Every story you see on this site is submitted by readers like you. But it doesn't stop there. After a story is submitted, it is sent to the "Public Pool." From there, other readers have a chance to rate article. If the article receives a high enough rating, it is made "live" and bumped to the homepage. This type of system ensure that you, the reader, reads what you want to read. No longer are you at the mercy of staff writers and editors.
